About The Auction

From its inception, the opportunity center has been an amazing institution that has helped numerous individuals in Palo Alto that are either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. In addition to providing interim living accommodations for poor families, the opportunity center also provides rehabilitative and educational opportunities for their residents all in an effort help them escape the fate of becoming homeless.

Unfortunately, the opportunity center is facing a lot of budgeting issues due to the recent financial crisis. The members of APhiO, SPOON, STOP, and Challah for Hunger desperately think that they are a worthy organization due to all the services they provide for the poor in Palo Alto, therefore, we are partnering up to hold a “Hunger and Homelessness” auction on April 9th, 2011 to raise money for them. This involves soliciting various donations from students, student groups, faculty, and local businesses and auctioning these items off early spring quarter with all the benefits going to the Opportunity Center.
